5. Brandon McCoy, Center, UNLV

Brandon McCoy has potential written all over him. He is extremely raw so he’s about two years away from being two years away.

McCoy has the tools that a center needs in today’s NBA, athleticism, size, length and youth and should he be able to continue to grow his game, he can be a dominant force that no one saw coming.

He averaged nearly 17 points, 10 rebounds and just about two blocks per game. He loves to run the floor, control the paint, dominate on the inside and can be a nightmare on the defensive side of the ball.

McCoy just needs to learn the game and continue to add to his offensive game. He is not ready to be on the main roster just yet but has a ton of potential.

Final discussion and wrap-up

Out of these players, the best fit for the Lakers could end up being Bonzie Colson from Notre Dame. Some people are comparing him to Draymond Green.

Colson does a lot of what Green does, but he is about three inches shorter and can’t stay healthy. But with the versatility that he offers and the type of player he is and leader, Colson would be a good fit in Luke Walton’s system.

Colson also comes in playing all four years in college, so he is more mature than most players coming into the draft and has the most potential out of the players listed.

The only question is, can he stay healthy? If he can, he can be the steal of the second round and may even be the steal of the draft.
