Wendell Carter Jr.. 11. player. 170. . Center. Duke

With the 11th overall pick, the Charlotte Hornets will be looking toward the future, as they will be selecting Wendell Carter from Duke. While Carter might not play a ton right away for the Hornets, he will provide them with the eventual replacement for Dwight Howard.

After being one of most dominant centers in the league, Howard is no longer the player that he once was. With one year left on his deal, Howard will likely be playing his final season with the Hornets this coming year.

By taking Carter, they will present him with the opportunity to learn from Howard and not have a ton of pressure on him as a rookie. At Duke, Carter might have been one of the most underrated players in the country, as he played next to Marvin Bagley. While Bagley received a lot of the attention, Carter was very good as well.

At Duke, Carter averaged 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in 26.8 minutes per game. With the Hornets being in a bit of limbo, adding Carter should help them if they decide that a rebuild is the way that they are going, or if they are going to try and make a push for the playoffs next season.

Note: Dwight Howard has reportedly been traded to the Brooklyn Nets
