With their second pick in the first round, the Atlanta Hawks will be adding one of the top shooters in Kevin Huerter from Maryland. The Hawks got their big man in Marvin Bagley with the third overall pick, and adding Huerter here would compliment that pick nicely.

Shooting has become almost a necessity in the NBA now, and Huerter can light it up from anywhere on the court. After two seasons at Maryland, Huerter made the decision to make the jump to the NBA, and after a strong sophomore season, here should be ready. While he could afford to add some size, that is something that he can work on this offseason and as he gets older.

Huerter certainly made his name as a shooter, he can do more than just shoot. As a ball-handler at Maryland, Huerter was able to hurt teams in the pick-and-roll. While he likely won’t do that a ton in the NBA, it was a weapon for him at college.

During the Hawks’ good run a few years ago, Kyle Korver was an excellent player for them. While Huerter might not be as good as Korver was as a shooter for the Hawks, he can help provide them with some needed floor spacing next season.
