Despite dealing with injuries to arguably their best two players, the Boston Celtics were one win away from reaching the NBA Finals last season. Next season, the Celtics will hope to stay healthy and reach the Finals.

Since the Celtics have a lot of talent, they can afford to take a chance late in the NBA Draft this year. With the 27th overall pick, the Celtics will be taking guard Anfernee Simmons. Like some of the other prospects in the draft this year, Simmons didn’t play in college last season. However, he is a young player with a lot of talent.

Simmon is a 6’3” guard with a 6’7” wingspan, which is a very nice size for a guard in the NBA. Simmons has the height and length to be a good defender, but he will have to add size, and that can take time.

On the offensive end, Simmons can score in multiple ways and shoots the ball well from beyond the arc. Even though he has a lot of talent, Simmons likely wouldn’t crack the Celtics’ rotation as a rookie. However, not rushing him and letting him develop nicely could result in him becoming a very solid player in a few years.
