The Golden State Warriors have an embarrassment of riches. They wrapped up their third NBA Championship in four years, placing themselves among the best of best of all-time in the NBA. However, they did show a few chinks in the armor in the depth department. They fill that need with the No. 28 overall pick, selecting Tulane forward, Melvin Frazier.
Frazier would fit right into what the Warriors are looking for. He is a versatile player that can fill multiple spots in the lineup. Frazier is athletically gifted and has a chance to develop into a solid 3-and-D player.
The Warriors always seem to come away with a steal during the draft, and Frazier would represent another one. He has a high ceiling, especially if the improvements he made with his jump shot this past season wasn’t a fluke.
Frazier improved across the board during his time in Tulane. He could be developed into an eventual replacement for Andre Iguodala in Golden State given his skill set and similar size. Iguodala is listed only one inch taller and 15 pounds heavier. Given time, Frazier could reach the 215 pounds that Iguodala is listed at.
Golden State could see an overhaul of their bench unit again this offseason. Frazier would be a strong addition to the bench with six players becoming free agents, including Nick Young and Patrick McCaw. Kevin Durant is also a free agent but expected to re-sign.
