Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James does not rule out a return to Cleveland
By Nick Ziegler
Recently, Los Angeles Lakers news is that LeBron James wouldn’t rule finishing his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Los Angeles Lakers were able to make a huge splash in free agency this offseason when they signed LeBron James to a four-year deal. As the best player in the world, getting James was a huge move for the Lakers.
Getting James to leave Cleveland for Los Angeles might have seemed far-fetched not too long ago, but the organization led by Magic Johnson was able to get the job done. With James on the roster, the Lakers are now instantly contenders in the Western Conference.
With James signing for four years with the Lakers, many believed that this might be the final stop for him in his NBA career. At 33-years-old, James will be pretty old by the end of his contract with the Lakers if he stays all four years, but he wouldn’t rule out finishing up with the Cavaliers.
Recently, James spoke with Tom Withers of The Associated Press about a potential return to Cleveland to end his career. Here’s what he had to say.
"“Listen, I don’t close the chapter on anything or close the book on anything,” James said when asked if he would return to Cleveland to end his career. “But hopefully I can sit there one day and watch my jersey go up into the rafters, that’s for sure.”"
The possibility of James looking to play one final season in Cleveland is certainly feasible. With him starting his career there, growing up there, and having so many great memories with the Cavaliers, a farewell tour of sorts would make a lot of sense.
However, there is also the possibility of James looking to play with his son potentially. LeBron James Jr. has opened a lot of eyes as he heads into high school and depending on his growth as a player, the NBA might be in his future. If James has the opportunity to, playing with his son for a season would be incredible.
With a potential return to Cleveland to end his career is a ways away, James is focused on helping the Lakers get back to the playoffs.
