October 20th vs. Houston Rockets
The first big game of the season for the Lakers will be their first home game against the Houston Rockets. Even though this won’t be James’ first game as a member of the Lakers, it will be his first home game. With this being a big matchup, it will be on ESPN as one of the nationally televised games.
While all eyes will be on James for his first home game with the Lakers, this should be a great matchup to watch. Last season, the Rockets were one of the best teams in the NBA, and were the first seed in the Western Conference.
There were a lot of questions about how the Rockets would perform last season with the addition of Chris Paul. However, he and James Harden did very well together and if it wasn’t for Paul missing Game 7 for the Rockets, they might have pulled the upset against the Warriors in the playoffs last year.
With Paul and Harden back for this season, the Rockets will be hoping to be the main threat to the Warriors in the Western Conference. Even though this is the second game, the Lakers will be tested right away.
