Los Angeles Lakers: 10 greatest shooting guards in franchise history
By Ed Schrenzel
9. Jordan Clarkson
JC was a second-round pick who emerged during his rookie season in 2014-15 as an excellent combo guard.
He started most games the second half of that first season and for all 79 games his second year. Jordan then accepted a reserve role his next two seasons and garnered attention as one of the league’s leading sixth-man.
In his nearly four years with the Lakers, Clarkson compiled remarkably consistent statistics in almost all categories. His overall scoring average of 14.3 points per game only ranged from 11.9 to 15.5 a year. His assists (2.9), rebounds (3.3), shooting percentage (44 percent) and 3-point accuracy (33 percent) also strayed very little from year-to-year.
JC was traded this past midseason to Cleveland in a deal that landed the Lakers a first-round draft pick (used to select Moritz Wagner) and to clear room under the salary cap. He played well for the Cavs during the regular season but performed poorly for them in the postseason.
