2. He has played with Lebron James in the past

They were teammates together on that 2013-14 Miami Heat team that got to the NBA Finals before getting unexpectedly waxed by a San Antonio Spurs team whose offense was humming at an other-worldly level.

This should help, as Lebron should already know Beasley’s tendencies and preferences, especially on the offensive end. This can help fast-track the Lakers’ efforts to build team chemistry this season, as Lebron can get Beasley the ball in his sweet spots without having to go through much trial-and-error.

With all the new players the Lakers have brought in, it really helps if two of them have already played together. It also helps if said players also have a built-in mutual respect for each other.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, who is to Lebron as Ahmad Rashad was to Michael Jordan in the 1990s, the two got along pretty well in South Beach.

"LeBron James played a season with Michael Beasley in Miami. They had no major issues & LeBron said he respected Beasley’s talent. I mean Erik Spoelstra decided Beas was unplayable in the postseason due to defensive lapses. But in fairness I don’t recall him forgetting the score."

Having your franchise player, especially one who wields a disproportionate amount of power like Lebron, vouching for a guy like Beasley who doesn’t have the greatest reputation in the world kinda helps.
