4. Moritz Wagner

The Los Angeles Lakers have done very well in recent years during the draft. Despite picking later in the first round on numerous occasions, Los Angeles has hit with productive players. Last year alone, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart were selected No. 27 and No. 30 respectively. They are hoping the same luck comes with Moritz Wagner.

Wagner was the No. 25 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Michigan center has a chance to carve out a role with the Lakers, who have minutes available at the 5. However, he could also be an attractive piece to add in a deal.

Yes, the Lakers could use him. His offensive skill set will help as he can stretch the floor, score in the post and be a playmaker in the mid-range. His defense leaves a lot to be desired, but there are some players that can help cover up for that.

Now, Wagner isn’t someone that the Lakers will actively shop. However, if teams ask for a young player or asset in a deal, Wagner could be someone the Lakers consider. To add talent you need to trade talent. If the Lakers feel a deal can be made to upgrade the roster and Wagner is asked for, they would have to consider it.

With JaVale McGee and Ivica Zubac on the roster, and talks of using LeBron James at center, the Lakers should have enough to cover the position should Wagner be moved.
