3. Will the backcourt score?
"The Los Angeles Lakers had better find a way to get points from the backcourt or they are in a ton of trouble! Rondo had 11 assists and seven rebounds, but he had two points. What’s even worse, he only took three shots. You say…so?"
Aftermath…
The quote up above is from the first game. The Lakers were blown out by Denver. In this game Rondo scored three points and took only four shots. Sure Rondo had 10 assists. Here’s his best one to Kyle Kuzma on the alley-oop…
But the back court has to score. ESPECIALLY if Brandon Ingram doesn’t score well (more on him later). The starting back court of the Lakers scored only 13 points. The Lakers guards had 30 points put together. In the win against the Kings, Lakers guards had double that with 60 points. Rondo is a pass-first point guard and that’s great. But trust me on this, if he does not look at the basket, teams will back up, clog the middle, dare him to shoot and the offense will stall.
I will say this Luke Walton needs to make a decision and figure out the two guard position. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in my opinion needs to come of the bench. Josh Hart has that “dog” in him that a lot of players are not displaying at this point…
Luke Walton…message here…
LeBron James starts…
JaVale McGee starts…
Rajon Rondo starts…
Brandon Ingram starts…
Josh Hart starts…
Now worry about something else…like your defensive rotations.
