Key Player Grades

KYLE KUZMA. A-. Brandon Ingram is suspended for four games and that means KUZMANIA is back! Kyle Kuzma drew the start at PF today and he did not disappoint. The Flint native scored 37 points – one shy of tying his career-high – while hauling in eight rebounds.
He also did that in the tune of 60 percent shoot from the floor and 40 percent from the three. Kuz scored four triples in the game which gave the Lakers a huge confidence boost in their three-point shooting.

Unfortunately, as good as Kuzma’s performance was there is always room for improvement. Kuz did not log defensive stats, even though he led both teams in minutes played with 45 – the reason for A- instead of A.

Additionally, he disappeared in overtime as he missed his only field-goal attempt and had one turnover. In the end, however, Kuzma’s good definitely outweighed the bad. Aside from Lebron’s hope, Kuzma also reminded the Lakers of their fan-favorite once again.
. PF. Los Angeles Lakers

B. LeBron James had quite a game against the Spurs. In the first half, the King struggled mightily as he only scored four points and shot a putrid 25 percent from the floor. He also missed both of his 3-point attempts and his lone free throw attempt.
In the second half, however, the greatest player in the world showed up. LeBron torched San Antonio with 23 points while shooting 63.6 from the floor. He also made all seven of his free throws. If that’s not impressive enough, James came through in the clutch by hitting a game-tying three-pointer with 2.5 seconds left in the game!

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for overtime, as LeBron scored five points while shooting 33 percent from the floor, missing everything from deep and the charity stripe. More importantly, his two free throw attempts could have possibly sealed the game.

James finished the night with 32 points, eight rebounds, and 14 assists in 43 minutes – average for his standards. Although the Lakers lost, James finally gave Laker fans a sense of victory as he displayed the talents that these fans had anxiously been waiting to see.
. SF. Los Angeles Lakers. LEBRON JAMES
