Team Grades
Offense: A
Scoring: A+
Nothing new here for the Lakeshow. The Lakers topped the 120-point mark for the third straight game now. The team also had six double-digit scorers yet again with LeBron James leading the way. With chemistry finally starting to click the players look much more comfortable on the floor. Moving forward we should continue to see the team easily top the 110-point mark and have at least three double-digit scorers per night.
Shooting: B
The team’s shooting did not change much either as the Lakers shot 50 percent from the floor and 34.5 percent from deep. That is now three straight games of shooting nearly 35 percent or better from deep. The Lakers are and will be nowhere near being the best 3-point shooting team in the NBA, but with performances and consistency like this, they can be better than below average. Hopefully, their 3-point shooting remains hot next game as they take on the San Antonio Spurs, who are shooting an insane 44.1 percent from deep.
Rebounding: B+
Although the Lakers only grabbed nine offensive rebounds, they definitely receive B+ for their performance. With the team’s lack of depth at the center position and the height dominance of the Nuggets, it is shocking that the Lakers were able to grab nine offensive boards. Moreover, their performance on the offensive glass was nearly as good as Denver’s – nine to ten. Since the Spurs are not a great defensive rebounding team, do not be shocked if Lakers do better on the offensive glass next game.
Passing: A+
Passing and playmaking is the niche of this Lakers team. In Thursday’s matchup, the team had 27 assists, continuing their streak of 25+ over the last four games. While Lonzo Ball and LeBron James did make up for a lot of the team’s assists, Rajon Rondo‘s return next game should allow for there to be more playmakers. The Lakers will definitely need to keep the ball moving if they hope to beat the Spurs tonight.
