Offensive Team Grades

Offensive: B+

Scoring: A

The Lakers offense had no problems scoring the basketball tonight. They had six players score in double-figures, led by LeBron James with 29. Brandon Ingram also broke the 20-point plateau in his return, pouring in 24. Kyle Kuzma had 19, while Rajon Rondo and Lance Stephenson scored 13 and 11 off the bench respectively. This is the fourth time this season the Lakers broke 120 points.

Shooting: B-

The shooting percentages for the Lakers were okay against the Timberwolves. They shot 47.1 percent overall, knocking down 36.4 percent of their 3-point attempts. That is better than their season percentage from deep, and would put them right in the middle of the pack in the league.

What knocks down this grade is the free throw shooting. Los Angeles attempted only 15 free throws, making 10. That 66.7 percent is unacceptable from the charity stripe. Having only 15 attempts is not enough either.

Rebounding: A+

The Lakers blew past their season average for offensive rebounds per game. They attacked the offensive boards relentlessly, pulling down 17 in the game. 9.5 was their average coming into the matchup. Six different players had multiple offensive rebounds with James, Ingram and Johnathan Williams each snagging three.

Passing: B-

The passing was not as crisp tonight as it has been throughout the season. 24 assists is still a solid number but are less than the team’s season average of 27. Lonzo Ball struggled tonight, which brought down the assist numbers. Rondo led the way with eight, followed by James with seven.
