Los Angeles Lakers: How are recent former players doing?
By Ed Schrenzel
3. Isaiah Thomas
In the 2017 playoffs, following an outstanding season with Boston during which he was in the MVP conversation, averaging nearly 29 points and six assists per game and shooting 38 percent beyond the arc, Thomas injured his hip.
Over the summer, the Celtics traded him to Cleveland, where he probably tried to return too soon and was ineffective on the court, scoring only 14.7 PPG and hitting on just 25 percent of his 3-point attempts.
At midseason, the Lakers, as previously mentioned, acquired IT and his expiring contract. He played just 17 games for LA before opting to shut things down for the season and have surgery.
He had surgery in the off-season and claimed he would be fully ready for the start of the new season and that he had interest in returning to the Lakers. But the interest was not mutual.
Instead, Thomas ultimately signed a $2 million contract with Denver. However, he is still recovering and has yet to play a game for the Nuggets.
