– Rudy Gay

When playing the Spurs, all eyes are usually on either DeMar DeRozan or LaMarcus Aldridge. However, in the loss to the Lakers on Wednesday, it was Rudy Gay who stole the show. In the loss, Gay totaled 31 points on 12-for-21 shooting from the field. In addition to scoring over 30 points, Gay also totaled seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals before fouling out late. This was a throwback performance for Gay, and the Spurs certainly thought that if he scored 31, that they would have won.

The two stars for the Spurs also played well, as Aldridge had a very efficient 21 points and DeRozan led the team with 32 points. While they all played well, it wasn’t enough to topple the Lakers and LeBron James, who was just simply in a zone on Wednesday.

So far this season, Gay is averaging 13.6 points per game. While we likely won’t see another 30-point outing for Gay on Friday night, he might have a lot of confidence going into the game. If he does have another great night, the Lakers could be in trouble.
