No. 3: DeMar DeRozan dominates
The Lakers had no answer for DeMar DeRozan in the four games. Playing against a hometown team will also give a player a little extra motivation, and that looked to happen for DeRozan.
DeRozan scored at least 30 points in all four games, averaging 32.5 points per game. However, he did a lot more than just score the basketball. He also averaged 8.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game to go with five steals, three blocks and only nine turnovers.
Whenever the Spurs needed a basket, they went to DeRozan and more often than not, he delivered in a big way. Los Angeles had no answer for him despite him making a 3-pointer in only one of the games, attempting only one in the other three games combined.
The only time DeRozan looked to be slowed down was at the start of the third game when Brandon Ingram was in the lineup. Ingram’s length looked to be giving DeRozan some challenges, but once he went down with his ankle sprain, DeRozan picked up back up where he left off from the first two games.
The Lakers are the team that DeRozan has found the most success against this season. He has averaged more points against only two other teams, more rebounds against one other and assists against two more teams.
