8. Cap leads the way
During the 1977-78 season, the Lakers got off to a slow start. They didn’t get over the .500 mark until Feb. 10, but Christmas Day was a memorable one because of the performance that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had.
The Big Fella was absolutely dominant on Christmas Day against the Seattle SuperSonics, recording one of his best stat lines of the season.
Abdul-Jabbar would finish the game with 35 points, shooting 15-of-21 from the field and making all five of his free throws. He would add 17 rebounds, nine assists, one steal and three blocks in the game. Most importantly of all, the Lakers won the game 111-96.
Four other Lakers would score in double-figures in the game. Jamaal Wilkes scored 20, while Lou Hudson had 19, Adrian Dantley had 11 and Don Cheaney chipped in 11.
Marvin Webster did what he could to try and slow down Abdul-Jabbar, scoring 15 points with 18 rebounds and six assists. A solid performance, but not enough to keep up with Abdul-Jabbar.
