8. A KCP Trade
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope wants to get traded, but the Lakers don’t want to take on any extra salary going into next year. There are two players who have similar contracts as KCP and are on expiring deals: Terrence Ross and Wayne Ellington.
If you had asked me two weeks ago whether or not the Lakers should trade KCP for Ross or Ellington, I would have said who cares. All three players have surprisingly similar traditional and advanced stats. However, as of today, I say trade the guy.
KCP is a very talented player, but it’s obvious he’s not happy with his role on the Lakers and he just doesn’t seem to care very much. He’ll go through spurts where he plays hard and then there will be times where he just lets his man get to the rack with almost no resistance, and I hate watching a player who doesn’t give 100%.
I’d much rather see what Ross or Ellington can bring to the table. I guarantee they’d try harder than Kentavious. The question is: Can Lakers management pull off a trade?
