Final Thoughts
The Los Angeles Lakers have been nothing short of controversial this entire season. With the trade deadline looming, players like Kyle Kuzma played with the thought that it could be their last game for the Lakers.
Kyle Kuzma has successfully done the job of improving his overall game, making him a valuable piece to the Lakers success, but he has also turned himself into the exact player that other teams would want in any sort of trade with the Lakers.
Despite many attempts to improve the value of a player like Brandon Ingram, the Lakers find themselves in a situation where they are having to decide between their most promising young players and an All-NBA forward in Anthony Davis.
The Lakers have been in this situation before when it came to the decision of whether or not to make a serious offer for Kawhi Leonard, which the Lakers did not.
The Lakers also could have had players such as Paul George when he was still in Indiana as well as DeMarcus Cousins when he was still in Sacramento. The Lakers refused to give up Brandon Ingram for Cousins and could have had Paul George if they were willing to give up the No.2 Pick in the 2017 NBA Draft that turned out to be Lonzo Ball.
Regardless, Kyle Kuzma is one of the main bright spots of Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka’s tenure with the Lakers, and I’m pretty sure they want to do everything they can to keep him.
But as promising as Kyle Kuzma has become, just like the newly cemented All-Star and former Laker D’Angelo Russell, Kuzma’s true time to shine might not come with the Lakers.
I just pray that I’m wrong about that.
