Luka who? Trae Young was the “Rookie of the Year” in this one!

All the hype in this game surrounded Luka Doncic, who is well on his way to winning the NBA Rookie of the Year this year.

But Luka was not the best rookie in this game. That honor went to Trae Young, who showed the entire repertoire in a complete floor game with a lot of flash.

Young messed around and almost got a triple-double, scoring 25 points, dishing out 10 assists and grabbing seven rebounds. He matched Tatum’s total of six shots from the land of the extra point in a more efficient 11 attempts.

I mean we all know he can knock down deep shots.

But I’m sure NBA fans don’t know about his partner in crime, John Collins. Here Trae Young set him up for an alley-oop that he finished with a 360 that had the crowd buzzing.

Let me warn Lakers fans and everyone else. Trae Young is starting to patent the nutmeg and will be using it on a normal basis. When the Hawks beat the Lakers before the All-Star break, Young got LeBron James twice in the game. At the time, I was looking at LeBron James like the decline was inevitable.

No, everyone, Young is doing this on purpose. LeBron is not going to be the last to get caught.

Watch this.

At least Trae Young didn’t score on LeBron. Deandre Ayton got served by Trae Young getting the ball put through his legs and watching Young glide to the basket for the layup.

Now, these guys balled for Kyle Kuzma’s squad, but Team World had a player too.
