Los Angeles Lakers: Predicting where top stars will land this summer

2. Kevin Durant – Player option for 2019-20
The MVP of the last two NBA Finals is focused now on winning his third straight title with strong favorite in Golden State. Whether or not that happens, once the season ends he’ll have to decide whether to exercise his player option for next season.
Chances are he will not, which won’t prevent him from signing a new extension with the Warriors this summer. But it has been often conjectured that he plans to set his sights on furthering his legacy elsewhere. The team that is mentioned most often is the New York Knicks, whose fans are salivating over the possibility.
KD refuses to make any public proclamations about what he might do. However, a few months ago he commented that few stars want to join the Lakers and play second fiddle to LeBron.
Whether that’s accurate remains to be seen. It probably reflected Durant’s own feelings on the matter, making it seem unlikely that Magic would have success recruiting him.
Prediction: KD will either stay with the Warriors or sign with the Knicks.
