5. Klay Thompson – Unrestricted free agent

It’s no secret that the Lakers lack reliable 3-point shooting, and Klay is one of the best long-range marksmen in NBA history. The big question is whether he would seriously consider leaving Golden State.

Thompson has a tenuous connection to the Lakers. His father Mychal, currently the team’s radio analyst, played for them during the Showtime era. Klay also attended Rancho Santa Margarita High School in Orange County.

Still, it’s hard to believe that he’d say adieu to the Warriors and Steph Curry and break up the best shooting backcourt the league has ever seen. However, if he does entertain a change of scenery, Magic should be first in line with a recruiting pitch.

Prediction: Many say that Klay will almost certainly stay with the Warriors. But if for some reason he does decide to explore free agency, the Lakers have as good a chance as any team of signing him.
