Los Angeles Lakers: How have Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka done so far

Step #4

Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka apologize to the young core

This last step seems simple, and it is, but it’s also very necessary. Magic Johnson’s “pep talk” in Philadelphia about how basketball is a business and how all the guys need to man up, didn’t work.

Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka made a mistake. It happens, nobody’s perfect, but they do need to apologize for the way they handled the AD trade talks. They need to let everyone who’s still on the team after the season’s over know that they do value them and that it was a blunder to go after AD and put them all on the trade block.

After they apologize they need to go one step further. Magic and Pelinka need to make a pledge that all of the trade rumors that continually pop up around the young core are over. “Maginka” must stop mucking around in the dirty trade waters that seem to envelop the Lakers and stick with Kuzma, Ingram, Ball, and Hart and let them grow and develop and gain confidence.

If the Lakers were actually able to pull off my master plan they’d be in position to win the title next year and for many years to come.
