If you’re wondering who Korkmaz is: He’s the only player besides Embiid and Simmons on the 76ers who’s under 24-years-old that plays somewhat regular minutes.
Joel Embiid’s a great center, but he’s not the best 5 in the league. The best center in the league plays in the Western Conference and I’ll get to him later. Embiid’s a great player who’s capable of being the best player on a championship level team. With that said, he plays with three other legitimate All-Star caliber player’s and yet the 76ers are only in 4th place in the weak Eastern Conference. Why?
One of the biggest reasons why the 76ers haven’t fared better is because Embiid has a tendency to hijack numerous offensive possessions per game and that’s not always a good thing considering he’s shooting 29% from 3-point range on 4 attempts per game and he’s only shooting 48% overall.
Ben Simmons is a great point guard and he’s an All-Star in the Eastern Conference. But, can a team win a championship with him in the starting lineup? I don’t know. He’s shooting 0% from downtown and come playoff time he’s going to be a huge liability on offense, simply because he doesn’t have to guarded beyond the arc.
