2. Assess if any of the vets are worth keeping next year

With so many veterans on the squad, it should be the perfect time to give them more game time and see if they are worth keeping long term, right? Well, I’m not so sure.

Reggie Bullock and maybe Knetavious Caldwell-Pope are the only players who should potentially come back next season. They have played relatively well and they are the only players I would consider bringing back next season.

Rajon Rondo with his terrible defense and poor attitude won’t be back. JaVale McGee, although he started the season promising, returned to his usual mediocrity. Lance Stephenson was Lance all season. Tyson Chandler, like McGee, started strong but his legs seemed to go after All-Star Break.

Field them for the rest of the season and see if they show anything that is redeemable and would benefit in keeping them another year, otherwise, the Lakers need to start establishing a free agent strategy to start building the squad for next season.
