The Lakers might want to re-sign JaVale McGee for next year
JaVale McGee has dominated the paint for the last three games. Right now JaVale cannot miss a shot. In the last two games leading up to this one, McGee has hit 23-of-30 from the field with numerous dunks, rebounds and blocked shots.
He continued his dominance against the Wizards.
JaVale McGee scored 20 points, grabbed 15 rebounds (5 on the offensive end) with four blocks, two assists and steals. He scored his points on the strength of 9-of-11 from the field. Why do I say JaVale should be picked up for next year?
Because he is now doing what Ivica Zubac was doing for the Lakers before he got traded with better defense. He is now dominating the opposing big men. He showed that dominance by blocking a shot, then ripping the ball out of a Wizards player’s hands and hit Kentavious Caldwell-Pope with a perfect pass for a layup.
JaVale McGee is one of the veterans that can play with LeBron James based on the chemistry the two have developed over the last three games, hopefully, into the rest of the season.
The Los Angeles Lakers have no choice but to build around LeBron James. To all the LeBron James fans saying, DUH, realize that he will be going into his 17th year in the league where Father Time is the only undefeated part of the game.
Now the Lakers have no choice but to start thinking about a plan B if they can’t land a top-level free agent, something that obviously wasn’t the case this year.
JaVale is a veteran that does not need plays called for him. He can protect the rim and he’s a veteran that makes LeBron James comfortable. These two have chemistry in the pick and roll that can be devastating to opponents.
JaVale’s field goal percentage attests to that.
Speaking of JaVale McGee’s partner in crime.
