– Hasn’t had much success

Despite not having any prior coaching experience, Jason Kidd took over as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in the 2013-14 season. With a roster that was built to win, the Nets underachieved a bit in the Eastern Conference that season, as they finished with a 44-38 record, and lost in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

After that one season with the Nets, Kidd then worked his way to the Milwaukee Bucks. With the Bucks, Kidd had a losing record at 139-152. Kidd made the playoffs twice with the Bucks, but lost in the first round both times.

While Kidd is certainly a big name, he shouldn’t be considered a big-name coach. With a coaching record under .500, Kidd hasn’t had a lot of success as a head coach in the NBA. Since the Lakers are coming off another season of missing the playoffs, they could certainly use a coach that has some more success than Kidd.

Even though Kidd has a better record than Walton as a head coach in the league, he has had some better talent on his teams and was in the weaker of the two conferences. Overall, Kidd’s record as a head coach is a bit uninspiring.
