– Lakers need a more powerful presence

As a storied franchise with one of the greatest players of all-time, the ideal type of coach for the Lakers would be one with a strong resume. The Lakers have been in rebuilding mode for years now, but with LeBron, those days need to end.

If not for the injuries, the Lakers likely would have been a playoff team this season under Walton. If that was the case, he likely wouldn’t be on the chopping block. However, the losing resulted in a lot of drama for the Lakers, and a change seems inevitable.

For the next coach of the Lakers, the pressure will be on like it was with Walton. This coach will need to be someone that is experienced with not only a superstar player, but also in a big market. Since the Lakers are hopeful to land another star this summer in free agency, the pressure will really be on.

The next head coach will have to potentially lead a team that has title hopes, and that is not an easy thing for an inexperienced coach. Having someone with a winning experience will bring stability to a team that seemed to be lacking in that area at times this season.

For Kidd, he really hasn’t had all that much success as a head coach to make him a strong candidate. With his lack of success and the drama that he has caused with the Bucks and the Nets, the Lakers can certainly do better at head coach.
