JaVale McGee absolutely destroyed the Pelicans

I’m going out on a limb here and saying that JaVale McGee will be in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform next year. Granted he has had an up-and-down year with a bout of pneumonia along with his “relationship” at times with Luke Walton.

With that being said…

JaVale McGee could have easily been in the running for NBA’s Most Improved Player this year if he did not get sick. He was that good to start the season and he is finishing the season better than he started.

JaVale McGee dominated the Pelicans front line in every aspect scoring 23 points and grabbing 16 rebounds (6 offensive). With 3 assists, a steal and a block, JaVale is filling up stat sheets like LeBron James these days. There is no special reason why this has been a comeback season for the ages for JaVale. He just runs the floor and plays with energy.

The Lakers do not have to call plays for him (Something that LeBron likes…) just put him in the pick and roll and let the defense pick their poison…

We already know that the man is a freak of nature athletically. He can outrun most centers in the NBA. Let him run on the break, hit him with a pass and watch him tear the rim down.

Lately, JaVale McGee’s field goal percentage is Wilt-like. Coming into this game, JaVale McGee was averaging 19 points and 14 rebounds on 74 percent shooting. To put this in perspective, his percentage goes down even though he shot well in the game. Lakers fans, meet your starting center next year if DeMarcus Cousins is not signed in the offseason.
