The 2018-19 season was a disappointing one for the Los Angeles Lakers. These are the five biggest disappointments of the season.

When LeBron James signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, people believed he would lift the team out of its sorrows. Although the Lakers showed brief flashes of greatness in the 2018-2019 season, they were eventually knocked out of playoff contention because of injuries.

The Lakers held the 5th seed well into the beginning of the season, and they seemed to be playing great. In their greatest win of the season, the Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors in a blowout on Christmas day, but LeBron went down with a groin injury.

Soon after, Lonzo Ball and Rajon Rondo went down as well. Without their three biggest playmakers, the Lakers suffered many losses and fell to the 10th seed in the West.

Now, the Lakers and James are being ridiculed all around the league, and the Purple and Gold will look to make some big moves this offseason. After what started as a hopeful season, things quickly took a turn for the worst.

Next year, the team will have a chance to redeem itself, but for now, it’s important to consider the biggest disappointments of the season in order to avoid them next year.

What started as a pipe-dream for LeBron and the Lakers quickly became one of the darkest chapters for them both. LeBron missed the playoffs for the first time in 14 years, and the Lakers missed the playoffs for the sixth straight season. There is no doubt this season was disappointing, but there are underlying reasons why it lingers so harshly.

Here are the five biggest disappointments of the 2018-2019 season.
