2. Injuries

The one solid fact about the Lakers 2018-2019 season is that it was completely ruined by injuries. The Lakers lost their three biggest playmakers in LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, and Rajon Rondo in a matter of one week, and they fell from the fifth spot in the West to the 10th spot.

If the Lakers didn’t face injuries, it’s more than possible that they would be heading to the playoffs with the 4th or 5th seed, and that’s what makes this season so disappointing.

No one will ever know what the Lakers would have been capable of this season, but if you want a glimpse, consider the team’s blowout win over the Warriors on Christmas day or Rajon Rondo’s heroic game-winner against the Celtics. Those moments are what the Lakers would have been in the postseason if they did not battle injuries.

To avoid injuries next season, the Lakers will have to follow proper techniques, use effective equipment, and be effective in practice and warm-ups. Although there is no practical way to prevent injuries, the team must do absolutely everything to avoid another untimely injury next year. The seventh straight losing season would be hard to forget, and it may be one they never bounce back from.
