Russell Westbrook makes history and honors a friend to the NBA!

At the beginning of the game, no one saw Russell Westbrook placing his name next to Wilt Chamberlain. The talk was about the 24 assists needed to guarantee his third straight season of averaging a triple-double. Also, coming into the game, Westbrook was only four triple-doubles shy of passing Magic Johnson on the NBA’s all-time triple-double list.

Based on how Westbrook was shooting, it still wasn’t a foregone conclusion. He was 0-5 in the first quarter and was shooting 2-14 at one point. The problem for the Lakers was that even though he missed all of his shots in the first frame, he had 10 assists and almost was at double figures in rebounds.

Then this happened.

In one of the instances where the Lakers were not particularly smart, Lance has this situation with Westbrook. He hand checks him on numerous occasions before the foul was called. Westbrook walks down the floor and talks with his father who was at the game with his mother. Then Russell Westbrook takes his fatherly advice and drives the ball to the basket and draws the foul.

Then Russell Westbrook dunks the basketball on the fast break and then knocks down a 3-point shot. By then, an already intense Westbrook got even more intense and exploded.

Lance, on the other hand, got in foul trouble swiping at the ball and knocking over Jerami Grant minutes later. That was his fifth foul and he pretty much disappeared for the rest of the night.

Russell Westbrook tallied his 30th triple-double of the season, scoring 20 points, grabbing 20 rebounds and handing out 21 assists. To put this achievement in perspective the next player in line with triple-doubles is Nikola Jokic with 12.

By the time it was all said and done, Wilt Chamberlain had company in the record books.

Lake Show Life wrote about the senseless killing of Nipsey Hussle on Sunday afternoon. As of this writing, the authorities have a suspect in custody.

Russell Westbrook dedicated the record to his dear friend Nipsey Hussle and was very emotional talking about him after the game.

Congratulations to Russell Westbrook and RIP Nipsey Hussle. When I did the report Sunday, I knew that Nipsey Hussle was known around the NBA but over the last couple of days, I have come to realize that this was a substantial loss.

The night says it all here.
