Rajon Rondo is killing the Lakers defense!

Not to take anything away from Russell Westbrook’s performance but if Rajon Rondo had even pretended to play perimeter defense, the record would have never happened.

Rajon Rondo had seven points, nine rebounds and 10 assists. If someone did not watch the game and looked at the box scores, they would think that Rondo played okay. All right let’s deal with the real.

It’s getting to the point that Rajon Rondo just wants the ball in his hands to do his own thing. LeBron James has been smoked for bad defense all year-long with me first in line to criticize him. I’m here to say Lakers fans: Rajon Rondo’s defense is ten times worse.

Time after time the Lakers were giving up penetration to Westbrook that would set up plays for his teammates on numerous occasions.

Or they would allow him to break down the defense for wide open 3-point shots.

Rajon Rondo was a team-low -25 on the plus/minus scale. The Los Angeles Lakers defense has fallen off a cliff since Lonzo Ball was injured. Why? Because Lonzo Ball will play defense. He struggles with his shot and does not score much, but the man he is guarding will struggle just as much scoring on the other end.

Enough with the basketball savant stuff. Enough with the leadership talk. Basketball is about defense, too. At some time in the season, (like the next three games) Rajon Rondo is going to have to sacrifice some of his assist stats (something that he has been accused of since his Boston years) and start concentrating on the defensive end.

Sure you can talk about the injuries and if he does not play, there’s nobody else. You’d be wrong. Let’s take this to South Bay!
