Los Angeles Lakers: Why they just won’t hire Tyronn Lue
By Ronald Agers
The myth of Tyronn Lue being LeBron James’ puppet… Who cares?
It amazes me that the Los Angeles Lakers and it’s fanbase can look back at the last six years and look down on Tyronn Lue’s resume. Let’s take a look at the tale of the tape of the accomplishments of the Los Angeles Lakers shall we? Here was the beginning of the end of the negotiations…
The Los Angeles Lakers have missed the playoffs six years in a row while Tyronn Lue was the lead assistant and head coach to a Cleveland Cavaliers franchise that went to the Finals four years in row.
The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been to the NBA Finals in nearly ten years while, Ty Lue actually got used to making the Finals every year which included last year. Isn’t this goal of this franchise? Making the NBA Finals for the opportunity to win championships? I mean who cares at this point how the Lakers do it?
The Ty Lue impasse is getting to the point that the Lakers will continue down the path of dysfunction just to prove that LeBron James is not in control of the franchise.
Maybe the Lakers realize that Tyronn Lue is the best choice to coach a LeBron James led squad. But it seems that the team is going way overboard with how the coaching staff will be constructed because of Lue’s relationship with James no matter how much Lue tries to imply that he’s not LeBron’s personal puppet
Bringing Jason Kidd to Ty Lue’s staff will be a disaster. He will serve nothing more than as a mole to the Lakers front office while undercutting Lue’s influence. If you thought Luke Walton had no voice, think about how this situation would work out?
This mess has to fall at the feet of Jeanie Buss, who for some reason wants to show the NBA world that LeBron James is an “employee” of the Lakers and not the “CEO”. With this current impasse of negotiations, it is clear that the Lakers and LeBron’s camp will never get past what happened during the Davis trade scenario.
The collateral damage of not hiring Tyronn Lue is damning. The stalling of the negotiations of a coach that even Stevie Wonder can see LeBron wants sends a message that this business arrangement is a colossal abomination. It also sends a message to free agents that this franchise is in a freefall.
