Los Angeles Lakers: 5 Reasons Frank Vogel will be successful

Compared to some of the other coaches the Lakers were interviewing, Vogel has seen a lot more success as a head coach in the NBA. In his first head coaching job with the Indiana Pacers, the Pacers were one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Under Vogel, the Pacers reached the Eastern Conference Finals two years in a row. However, the Pacers had the misfortune of running into LeBron James and the Miami Heat those years. While they certainly put up some good fights in those series with their stout defense, they didn’t have the talent to beat James.

With Paul George as his best player, Vogel did a very good job with the Pacers. Compared to some other rosters, the Pacers achieved a lot of team success with Vogel. In five of his six seasons as the head coach, the Pacers were able to make the playoffs. Considering the Lakers haven’t made the playoffs in the last six years, they certainly hope Vogel will be the right man for the job.

Vogel might have a more talented roster with the Lakers after the summer than he ever did with the Pacers. If he gets the players to buy-in, he might be able to replicate the success that he had in Indiana.
