Los Angeles Lakers: 5 steps to building a contender with Kyrie Irving

3. Sign good 3-point shooters
This was a bone of contention once the dust settled on last summer’s free agent acquisitions. Due to their roster makeup and all the injuries they had, the team finished next to last this season in 3-point shooting percentage.
Everyone knows they must improve this aspect of their offensive game. In his introductory press conference, new head coach Frank Vogel talked about using the 3-point shot to open up the opportunity to attack the rim. That sounds nice in theory, but of course, it necessitates bringing aboard some 3-point snipers.
Reggie Bullock, acquired in a midseason trade, is one of those snipers they should look to re-sign. Other than that, they need two or three other role players who will be counted on to shoot at least 38 percent from downtown. There should be guys like that they could sign for not too much money.
Other than that, some internal improvement is also needed. Kuzma, Ingram and Josh Hart showed promise last season as outside marksmen, but they all regressed this season. Lonzo Ball showed signs of improving his 3-point stroke in his last few weeks before getting injured in January, but overall, he has been a God-awful shooter thus far and needs to seriously overhaul his shot and offensive game.
