Lakers Rumors: De’Andre Hunter considered at No. 4 pick in mock drafts
By Ronald Agers
DeAndre Hunter is the best defender in the draft!
Let’s be clear here Los Angeles Lakers fans, I do not analyze players based off statistics entirely. I rely on the eye test and what I see on a basketball court.
I wasn’t offended by David West‘s tweet after the Warriors beat the Rockets.
Sometimes you have to know how to play. De’Andre Hunter knows how to play this game. He was an All-ACC performer as well as the ACC Defensive player of the year. He was the most reliable player on a championship team with the best defense in the nation.
Virginia allowed only 54.6 points per game on 37.4% opponents shooting percentage. He may not have the flash of a Jarrett Culver, but that is not what the Lakers need at this time on their roster. The Lakers need a guy that will concentrate and take pride in being a lockdown defender.
This is not to say that Hunter is the next coming of Lonzo Ball shooting the ball. Hunter scored 15 points per game on a solid 52% from the field. What’s more encouraging is that he shot 44% from the 3-point area. But there are questions about his offensive game transcending over to the pro game.
This is a question that will dog De’Andre Hunter throughout the weeks leading up to the draft. But where Hunter can help the Lakers is doing the little things.
Especially on the defensive end.
That’s all we have on DeAndre Hunter up to this point. Use this and the other articles in the Lake Show Life draft series for a reference leading up to the draft.
The draft is a fluid situation and a lot of information (Truth and rumors) will be floating around. Keep it locked to the number one source for Los Angeles Lakers draft coverage.
