Lakers Rumors: Is Jarrett Culver the answer for the Lakers at No. 4?
By Ronald Agers
Culver struggled big time from the 3-point line
The Lakers need a player that can knock down shots off the ball. To be clear here, Jarrett Culver needs some serious work if he is drafted. He only knocked down 30.4% from the 3-point line in college. That does not bode well for Culver if he plans to back up a few more feet in the pro game.
The Lakers definitely need shooters to space the floor and Culver has a slow release and a slight hitch in his shot.
Let’s take a look at the workouts that had Lakers front office execs, Jesse Buss and Ryan West in attendance.
As you can see, he shot well in this workout but hey, it’s amazing what you can do in an empty gym. His shot is mechanical and if you watch at the top of his release, there is a hitch that could cause problems if not corrected.
He may need to figure that out kind of quickly considering his size. Culver is considered very skinny compared to the size needed to deal with the constant pounding of the NBA players. His game is smooth, but it lacks that explosive athleticism that NBA teams look for.
What does that mean?
The Los Angeles Lakers have to figure out if they want to draft a player that does not space the floor with his shot and needs the ball in his hands to be effective making plays.
