Not Trust: Rob Pelinka

What concerns me and should many others most, is the fact that Rob Pelinka looks like he’ll be the man in charge of trying to lure superstar free agents to the Lakers in less than a month from now.

What first began with Magic Johnson publicizing the backstabbing capabilities of the Lakers general manager has now shaped into a nightmare for Lakers fans hoping to acquire star players this summer via free agency or trade.

Opposing GM’s refer to Pelinka as a “snake”, which comes from the Carlos Boozer ordeal where Pelinka verbally agreed with the Cleveland Cavaliers to a deal for his client in Boozer and then turned the other way.

In the past few weeks, we learned that Pelinka went as far as to lie about a Kobe Bryant – Heath Ledger story that indicated Ledger was alive at a certain time when he was not. What baffles me is that Pelinka is still the general manager for the Lakers, and the person more likely to deter players from joining the purple and gold than lure them into doing so.
