The Lakers have to make a choice…Obtain Davis now or wait a year

Believe it or not, the plan was working. The roster was constructed last year to put this team in the position where it is now. For the ability to make a run for a free agent or make a trade. Here’s where the trade talk messed everything up.

The Lakers got greedy and changed the mission statement. No one really knows what LeBron James and Magic Johnson talked about before the deal got signed but promises weren’t kept and the plan wasn’t seen through to the end.

Lakers fans, let me tell you a secret, the Los Angeles Lakers do not want to waste time developing Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma. Trust me, I know this.

How?

The Lakers wouldn’t have been so quick to drop them off in New Orleans in January. LeBron James wants to bring his own people in to play with. Sorry, it’s just the truth. History teaches us that he has gone by the same script for 16 years. Shoot, Lake Show Life WARNED everyone about this before the season even started. But the franchise needs to take some of this blame too.

The Lakers gave $154 million dollars to an aging superstar that brings the “win now” moniker to the franchise. If he was willing to be the hub to developing the young players and getting them ready for the experience for winning a championship in 2020. Fine.

But if that was the case, the Lakers would be waiting a year for Anthony Davis to stroll in without giving up ANY ASSETS! But to do that the Lakers would have to work again with what they have.

The Lakers have gotten themselves caught up not having a plan and sticking to it. Either the young players are good enough to invest their future into or trade them. Simple as that. The Lakers are playing games thinking David Griffin will negotiate dealing with the arrogance that hurt them months ago. We know the Pelicans’ plan.

What’s the Lakers plan? What is the long-range plan of the franchise? This deal is tied directly to it. The Lakers either have to pay the price and lock up Anthony Davis and build the roster around these two players or commit fully to the youth movement. Anthony Davis is the only major superstar attainable to the Lakers at this point. No one else is coming.

Don’t say that Lake Show Life didn’t warn you about this last season as well…
