– Dominant duo
In the NBA these days, it is very hard to win with just one star player. The Toronto Raptors were able to do it with Kawhi Leonard, but all of the injuries to the Golden State Warriors certainly played a part in that.
For the Lakers, they found out last season that one star doesn’t cut it in the Western Conference. Once the trade for Anthony Davis goes through, the Lakers will arguably have two of the Top-5 players in the NBA on their team.
LeBron James has played with some great players of the course of his career, however, Davis is in his prime and might be the best that we have seen James paired up with. By the time that James joined up with Dwyane Wade, Wade was not quite the same player as he was earlier in his career.
For Davis, he obviously hasn’t played with a player like LeBron before, and should be excited for the opportunity in front of him. While the price for Davis wasn’t cheap, they do have the best duo in the NBA now, and it might not be all that close with Kevin Durant out for next season.
Depending on what happens in free agency, the Lakers could be heading into the regular season with the best duo in the NBA. While it doesn’t guarantee they will be the best team in the league, it is certainly a good start.
