Los Angeles Lakers land Anthony Davis, so what’s next?
2. Kyrie Irving
The Athletic reported Sunday that Kyrie Irving has always been fond of the idea of playing alongside Anthony Davis. Further, the report implied that Davis to Los Angeles now makes the Lakers a serious threat to land Kyrie Irving this summer.
What already looks like the new team to beat in the NBA, would only be more intimidating if Kyrie Irving joined it. Most would have Kyrie at the top of the list of guards the Lakers should sign, but there are a few reasons why he’s behind Russell.
Kyrie has serious knee problems. He had injury problems in college and they’ve unfortunately bugged him throughout his entire NBA career. AD is the best big man in the league but hasn’t had the healthiest NBA career either. LeBron James is 34 and had suffered the most severe injury of his career this past season.
Therefore, the Lakers need to avoid forming an injury prone roster. Kyrie is also 27 years old, which is young, but four years older than D’Angelo Russell. Irving would be an incredible get for LA, but not better than D’Angelo Russell would be.
