Not last year’s Rajon Rondo, but the Pelicans Rajon Rondo

Hear me out, folks. I will be the first one to declare that Rajon Rondo was a major disruption to the team last year.

From the fight with Chris Paul, to his beef with Stephen A. Smith, to sitting down next to rapper 2-Chainz’s son on the bench in a loss getting called out by Mark Jackson

I’m talking about the Rajon Rondo who was the point guard in New Orleans when he teamed up with Anthony Davis to dominate the Portland Trail Blazers in a sweep a couple of years ago. The chemistry between the two can be used on this veteran-laden squad.

We all remember the run Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum had this year in the playoffs. Rajon Rondo worked well with Jrue Holiday to basically take this top 3 backcourt apart.

Here’s how you bring Rondo back into the fold. Number one, do not hand him $9 million dollars. The signing last year was probably was for cap space for this summer. Okay, mission accomplished.

Now, pay the man his market value; veteran’s minimum. Then place him on the bench in a backup role. Alvin Gentry gave him that option in New Orleans and he earned his way into playing time in the playoffs. The Lakers can do the same.

Now that Anthony Davis is on the team, Rajon Rondo will see this as his last chance for a ring before he retires. He wants to stay. Plus, are there really any other contenders that want him?

Enough about the options that are on the team. Let’s talk about players from the Cleveland days.
