Wayne Ellington
It is not the first time Ellington’s name is connected to the Lakers. After all, he already spent a season in LA in 2015. That season, with a bad Lakers team, is probably what saved his career. A last chance with one of the worst teams of the NBA turned in his redemption season and pushed him into the upper echelon of league’s shooters.
In February, at the trade deadline, the Lakers tried to reacquire the shooting guard, now one of the best 3-point shooters in the league, in a trade with the Miami Heat. But, the talks went nowhere and he ended up in Detroit.
Now, Ellington is a free agent and he has the chance to rejoin the team that helped salvage his career.
Through the last stretch of the season, the 6’5″ guard scored 12 points per game, shooting 37.3 percent on 7.8 attempts.
His shooting and acquaintance with the organization would make for a welcomed return for Ellington to Los Angeles.
