Los Angeles Lakers: 3 reasons Jared Dudley was a good signing
2. Experience and veteran leadership
Dudley doesn’t have the gaudiest stats, but his impact on a team goes beyond the stat sheet. The biggest asset that Dudley will bring to the Lakers is his experience and leadership.
There are a lot of reasons that the Brooklyn Nets came on last season as they did. They have an excellent front office and coaching staff, developing a culture that made them an attractive place to free agents, such as Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Dudley is a reason for that culture as well.
Throughout his career, Dudley has been lauded for his professionalism, high basketball IQ and being a positive influence in the locker room. Those are all things that the Lakers will need this season. We saw LeBron James struggle as the lone leader on the roster last season prior to Tyson Chandler’s arrival, and Dudley will help take some of that pressure off of him.
As Wojnarowski noted in the tweet on the previous slide, Dudley really impacted the Nets roster in a positive way. Also, Dudley can thrive no matter the role that you put him in, something that will be needed with the roster the Lakers are constructing.
Check out what Dudley did against the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs this year as well.
That toughness and feistiness will be welcomed in Los Angeles. Dudley is always going to stand up for his teammates and is a consummate professional.
