Positives
Mike Muscala provided the Lakers with floor spacing at times, as he knocked down 61.5% from three on 13 attempts in his last two games. That is what the Lakers expected to get out Muscala when they made the trade.
One big positive that we can point out is over his stay with the Lakers is, according to NBA.com advanced stats method, Muscala shot 46.9% from above the break three. He was 15-of-32 and his catch and shoot numbers were very positive and he showed he could knock that shot down.
These games allowed Muscala’s season averages to turn out to a decent 43.3/36.8/87.5 shooting line. If he would’ve been able to shoot like that from the start the Lakers would’ve had a decent pickup and would’ve looked into resigning him once the season was over.
This would’ve given LeBron a stretch big that he could trust to knock down shots from the corner, similar to a poor mans Kevin Love. But starting five of 24 from three and playing really bad defense did not help his case and he became expendable as the Lakers re-tool their roster.
