Power Forward: Anthony Davis

The newest superstar to join the Los Angeles Lakers is Anthony Davis. This has been a long time in the making.

Davis has been nothing short of spectacular since entering the league as the 1st overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft.

Davis followed up being drafted 1st overall by being chosen to join the Team USA Basketball team for the 2012 Olympics in London. The main take away from that Olympics experience for Davis was showing the world that he belonged on that star-studded team and that Davis was ready to make a lot of noise in the NBA over the course of his career.

This statement has proven to be very true. Anthony Davis’ numbers so far in his career have followed the same trajectory as legendary players such as Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal; that is some lofty company to hold.

When describing Anthony Davis’ game, it is hard to find any real faults. On the defensive end, he is a monster. Don’t try and get the better of him at the rim as he will send shots into the stands multiple times on a nightly basis. Not only does he block shots but his meer presence in the paint makes opposing players second guess themselves and forces them to alter their shot.

Offensively, Anthony Davis can score from absolutely anywhere. You disrespect him at the 3-point line and he will punish you repeatedly. He can also blow by you and put down vicious slams. If he wishes to take you into the post he can embarrass you with a wide array of post moves that will leave even the best post defenders in the league looking stupid.

Having LeBron and Davis on a team is going to lead to a lot of highlight plays and wins.
