Last season, the Lakers were second to last in three-point shooting. The team shot a mediocre 33% from deep. It’s so important to shoot well from deep nowadays, as teams shoot 30-40 threes a game.
This season, the Los Angeles Lakers should have as successful of a shooting season, as they have had in years. This is the most shooting a Lakers roster has featured in at least a decade.
Here is a list of the new additions career three-point percentages:
Danny Green- 40%
Quinn Cook- 40%
Troy Daniels– 40%
Jared Dudley– 39%
Avery Bradley- 36 %
Green was second in the league in percentage this season, as he shot it at an unbelievable 46%. When you have this many shooters around LeBron, it’s trouble for the rest of the league. Look at the history with the Heat and Cavaliers teams. One sneaky contributor in this area will be Bradley. After being traded to Memphis in the middle of the season he shot 38% from deep.
Daniels doesn’t need many minutes to light it up. In his career he makes 1.7 threes in only 15.5 minutes. That is simply incredible. It’s likely that if he played starter minutes, he’d be among the 5 best in basketball throughout his career.
And last but not least, the man with Finals experience in Cook. Cook won a title in 2018 with the Warriors as a backup guard. This past season he shot 41% from deep.
Look for the Lakers to be one of the better shooting teams in the league. This will be quite the change from a team that has been one of the worst over the last few seasons. The more threes you make, usually translate to more wins.
