Los Angeles Lakers: 3 Goals for LeBron James in 2019-20 season
By Nick Ziegler
– Win MVP
Prior to his injury, James was having a great season once again for the Los Angeles Lakers. In terms of being an MVP candidate, James seems to get lost in the shuffle a bit. With years and years of being the best player in the NBA, people just expect to see amazing stats for James.
Especially on some of his Cavaliers teams, James was certainly deserving of MVP and did not receive the award. After leaving Cleveland twice now, we have seen what that franchise does without James.
While the Lakers might not have been as bad as the Cavaliers last season without James, they certainly weren’t good when he missed time. When James got hurt on Christmas, the Lakers were the fourth seed in the Western Conference. However, upon his return, they were out of the playoff picture.
If the Lakers end up being one of the best teams in the Western Conference, James should receive a good amount of attention in the MVP voting. Generally, the MVP award goes to a player on a team that is one of the best in the conference. The Lakers certainly have the potential to do that, and if James is averaging near a triple-double, he would be in the conversation.
